I haven't had the chance to call again but I will. I asked the supervisor for a corporate office phone number and he actually told me "you can look it up online" Seriously?, now I am beyond furious. Why would I need to dispute it? There is nothing I need to dispute, Verizon needs to correct their mess up with the collection agency ASAP and get this collection off of my credit report. I'm furious at this point, The supervisor says because the account is closed and in collections he basically cannot access the account and cannot do anything for me, He said I would need to "dispute" the collection with the collection agency. No contact at all, just sent me straight to collections. How did Verizon never call, text, e-mail or contact me in any way at all? I know Verizon has my phone number because THEY ASSIGNED IT TO ME. I asked to speak with a supervisor and he dug into it to inform me when they mailed me a new SIM card they opened a new account without properly transferring everything over to the new one from the original, (I had no idea they were opening a separate account to begin with) so it went into default and cancellation, I never received phone calls, text messages, emails or letters about an account that was past due or any information regarding it, he gave me the phone number it was under, a phone number which I was never given, I don't have a clue what's going on. He continually tried to tell me to take it up with them. The first rep I talked to said I would have to take it up with the collection agency, I said no, they aren't going to care what my story is, they are a collection agency, they just want the money, do not push this issue off. I am using the phone they sent me to collections for right now. I've never missed a payment, my account is current. About one week ago I get a phone call from a debt collector claiming I owe Verizon Wireless $800 for an account I opened and never paid on, I told them there was a mistake as I currently have Verizon and I pay my bill every month, I pulled up my credit report and they've placed the collection on my credit! I call Verizon pretty frustrated that this is hitting my credit. 2 days later the SIM arrives, I install it and all is well. I spoke to a representative who informed me my SIM card was defective anyway so she would just mail me a new one and all I would have to do is put it in and I'd be ready to go. I couldn't activate it through self activation because I wasn't given a phone number. I bought the phone online from Best Buy, picked it up in store and went home to activate it. It was on sale for 50% off adding only $20 a month to my bill.
